Liverpool F.C. start training August 5 – 1941

Friday, July 25 – 1941
Liverpool Football Club open their training season on Tuesday, August 5, when the junior players will begin to fit themselves for the season which begins on August 30.

Mr. George Kay, manager of the Reds, emphasises that while he would be pleased to hear from any League players now in the district who would like to play with Liverpool next season, the club will be forced to rely, in the main, on the younger players.

Any ambitious youngster are advised to get into touch with either Mr. Kay, or, if they fancy themselves as Blues, with Mr. Theo Kelly, secretary of Everton. Both Mr. Kay and Mr. Kelly will give every possible encouragement to young players.

“Last season we always had five or six young players in our first team,” said Mr. Kay, “and we made some great discoveries. We shall continue to search the junior fields and, what is more, give the youngsters a real chance.”

Mr. Kay will personally be in charge of the training which will start at 5.30 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Anfield.
