Liverpool’s big game

May 15, 1942
Liverpool will be more than usually anxious to bag both points from their visit to Preston North End, tomorrow, for this League game may have a vital bearing on the championship question. Blackpool, the leaders, are home to Oldham, which seems a pretty certain win, and Liverpool will need all the points they can get to keep in the running for honours. While Preston have not maintained last season’s brilliant form this term, they are still a difficult side to beat, particularly on their own ground, and if Liverpool draw they will have done well. Team: –

Liverpool. – Alf Hobson, Roy Guttridge, Ray Lambert, Harry Kaye, Fred Finney, Bernard Ramsden, Billy Liddell, Jack Balmer, Cyril Done, Fred Haycock, Stan Palk.
