Anfield finale

June 8, 1942
Liverpool wound up the season with a grand reunion of pre-war players at Anfield, when the visitors won a bright and interesting game by 3-2, a score which hardly reflects their superiority.

The Army side were excellent in attack, thanks chiefly to good work by Phil Taylor, Harry Eastham and Reid, of Bradford City, while the spirited defence of Tom Bush and Eric Westwood put the damper on most of Liverpool’s forward work. John Easdale was another grand worker in the Army team.
