The British Army team is to open Dens Park, Dundee, on August 5 and thereafter tour the North-East, finishing up in Inverness.
Mr. George Graham, energetic secretary of the SFA, has arranged the fixtures.
The army team will include Matt Busby, James Carabine, Archie McAulay, Jock Kirton, Frank Swift – indeed it will be an international side.
At Dundee the “cracks” will meet the new Dundee, and Mr. George Anderson promises a few surprises. There will be some signings before that game, and the new men will be on view. Dundee is to make it a big occasion with a reception for the visitors.
On the rest of the tour the army team will be opposed by services sides. Here is the programme: –
5th August – Dundee, on behalf of Lord Provost’s Fund for War Charities;
7th August – Aberdeen, for the Army Welfare Fund;
8th August – Fraserburgh.
9th August – Elgin.
10th August – Fort George.
12th August – Inverness.
The last four games are in aid of prisoners of war funds.
