Thursday, November 16 – 1944
First attempts at public street lightning in Liverpool occurred in 1654. They were very primitive – two lanterns, with two candles burning every moonless night at the High Cross and at the White Cross – until 8 p.m. Evidently there was no lightning at all after 8 p.m.
