  1. Hi
Would this be the William Hunter who seems to have moved around alot? I am trying to find out more information about him as I have no firm evidence that he is the man I am looking into. My William Hunter is reported locally as being born around 1888 in South Shields. While the genelogy sites have a man who matches the info, I’m still a bit weary about using it. My own GG Uncle is reported as being born in 1886 to 88 but was in fact born in 1883.
William Hunter seems to have disappeared as well. He had just joined Exeter City in 1914 when they went to South America on tour. He played a couple of matches in the 1914/15 season but our local press didn’t print anything about football that season. They obviously believed the propaganda and didn’t want to encourage fit young men to waste their time on the terraces and pitch when they should have been joining up. I do know that the majority of Exeter City players were in fact married men so were exempt. No doubt you have found the same with your Liverpool players from that era.
Any information you have on William Hunter and can share would be gratefully appreciated. Unfortunately I don’t seem to have any other Liverpool players in my little group that I can pass information back to you. If you were researching Bolton or Atherton it would be a different story LOL!

    1. Hi Alison,

I do suspect it is the same player. I will see if I can find out more about him this evening, so keep an eye on his profile page, http://kjellhanssen.com/1980/01/01/william-hunter

An update. It seems to be two football players around the same time with the name William Hunter, one in Scotland and one in England. I am sure our player is the English one. I see o some sources that our player have “Airdrieonians” as one of his clubs. I suspect this is wrong. The Scottish one was with Airdrie.
