Friday, August 5 – 1949
Elisha Scott, the former goalkeeper, has been offered the managership of Portadown In succession to the former Alloa manager, Tommy Lipton, who retired a few days ago. Scott will accept the position.
He joined Liverpool, and for 21 years gave the Anfield club magnificent service. He returned home in 1934 to become player-manager of Belfast Celtic, who have withdrawn from League football.

  1. Elisha wanted the post as their Manager, but Belfast Celtic wanted him to stay with them, doing office work etc.. Elisha had no choice but to stay with B.C. .
