With the idea of helping towards raising £1,000 required to maintain the activities of the Birkenhead Boys’ Club, a “Mile of Pennies” was begun in Coburg Street, off Grange Road, Birkenhead this morning, by Mr. Jack Balmer, international inside right of Liverpool Football Club. Later in the day the Mayor and Mayoress (Alderman and Mrs. Frank Garstang) and the film star, Miss Jean Kent, are to visit the Mile of Pennis.
