For followers of our senior clubs’ reserve sides there is a special tit-bit at Anfield on Saturday, when Liverpool will be hosts to Everton, still going strong in their bid for a second successive Central League championship.
For this game Liverpool will have two newcomers, both amateurs. John Price, who played so well in his debut against West Bromwich last week, continues at left back, while Graham Wood, signed on Monday, makes his debut as left half.
Wood, ages 18, comes from Fordhouse Youth Club, the same Wolverhampton junior side from which Liverpool obtained Price. He is in the Army, stationed at Salisbury. Wood and Price have been associated since leaving school.
Price, who is only 17, is an aircraft factory apprentice, and will not be required to do his National Service until he had completed his time at his trade.
