Liverpool chairman John Smith, and secretary Peter Robinson, flew to Zurich today to attend the first round draws for the three European club competitions being made tomorrow. This is the prelude to Liverpool’s 11th successive season in European football – an English record. They hope to be able to contact their opponents in the Cup Winners’ Cup and make preliminary arrangements about match details.
