Michael Hughes, of Barmouth Street, Kirkdale, is confidently backing Liverpool for the League championship. Just two and a half weeks after a major heart operation – his third – the 11-years-old skipper of the Liverpool handicapped football team was to-day out of bed flying the Reds’ flag.
Michael Hughes.

His bed at the National Heart Hospital, in London’s Westmoreland Street, is surrounded by get-well cards from friends and relatives – including one from his class mates at Sandfield Park School.
Michael had his first operation when he was ten weeks old, the second five years later. Hopefully this latest operation will bring full recovery.
