Saturday, December 2 – 1815
A great foot-ball match takes place on Tuesday the 5th, at Carterhaugh, Ettrick forest, (a spot classical in minstrelsy,) betwixt the Ettrick men and the men of Yarrow; the one party, as we understand, backed by the Earl of Home, and the other by Walter Scott, Esq Sheriff of the forest.
Two “excellent new songs” have been written for the occasion, which we are happy in being enabled, thus early, to give to our readers.
The Ettricke Garland; being two excellent new songs on The Lifting of The Banner of the House of Buccleuch, at the great foot-ball match on Carterhaugh, Dec. 5, 1815.

Hello Kjell, love your website, which is an amazing resource on Liverpool FC!
However, do you have an up to date e mail address? I’ve just tried to e mail you a question on the pre-Shankly managers to your hotmail address and twice it’s just bounced straight back as undeliverable. Do you have a new one? Thank you. (By the way, my question needs a bit of background explanation so is too long for one of these comments boxes!)
Hi Andrew. You can email at kjellhanssen AT hotmail com.

Hi Kjell, Thank you for your reply. I’ve re-sent and it seems to have gone now…don’t know what I was doing wrong on Friday!
