Andrew Hannah in the lion’s den

November 22, 1893
Andrew Hannah, captain of the Liverpool Football Club, the other evening entered the den of forest-bred lions and lionesses in Wombwell’s Royal Menagerie, exhibiting at Walton Breck Road, Anfield. The act was to decide a wager, and Messrs. Wombwell, upon Hannah completing his enterprise, handed to him the wager deposited with them, and also presented him with a gold medal, value £5. The event caused great excitement, and the show was crowded when Hannah entered the den.
