* Tremendous cheers greeted the half time results of Liverpool v Aston Villa (the League match) when posted up on Everton’s enclosure.
* The Second Division shield is at present in the headquarters of the holders, Liverpool F.C. We just fancy Notts County kindly asking the Anfielders to take more care of it than the Villans did the national pot, and Liverpool reply that they will look after the coveted little thing if they can get hold of it.
* John McCartney, the present captain of the Liverpool club, is about to “gives hostage to fortune,” as Philosopher Bacon would say. Punch’s advice of “Don’t!” evidently suits him not, and we feel therefore compelled to wish him and the “Sandon beauty” all the happiness that springs from a happy union.
