The Jehu who drove the Novocastrians from Ewood Park to the railway station on Saturday last has found out to his cost that there is a penalty attaching to its distinction. In driving the visitors to the station in “record” time on a coach and four, the whip incurred the displeasure of the police who were regulating the traffic.
He disregarded the warnings of the police to the danger of pedestrians, and for his little escapade he has been called upon by the magistrates to pay a fine of 20s and costs. Under the circumstances, the Newcastle directors ought to be generous by paying the man’s fine.
