Alex Raisbeck signs on again for Liverpool F.C.

Saturday, April 28 – 1900
I am pleased to be able to report that Alex Raisbeck has signed on again for next season – for Liverpool, I mean.

And so the Glasgow Rangers have been baulked. They set about securing him in the most brazen manner, after his international, and there have been many inspired paragraphs in the Scotch athletic papers of the following kind: –

“We understand that Raisbeck will play for Glasgow Rangers next season… Raisbeck has been practically secured by the Celts… It is now reported that Raisbeck has joined Queen’s Park, and will, in fiture play as an amateur.”

These sprats have not caught the whale; and it was with a ring of triumph in his voice that Secretary Tom Watson showed me Raisbeck’s own signature to a Liverpool registration form.

The other old players signed on up to date at Anfield-road are Bill Perkins (goal), Charlie Wilson and William Goldie (halves), Tom Robertson, John Cox, John Walker, Sam Raybould, Charles Satterthwaite, John “Sailor” Hunter, and John T. Hunter. These are official.

One new player has been obtained so far, Tom J. Robertson, of Stoke, a slender youth, pinched in at the waist, neat, clean, athletic, a rare kick, and a keen judge. He will be a great acquisition.
