Thursday, June 13 – 1901
In giving judgment on a claim made at Rochester County Court today by William Smith, professional footballer, belonging to Liverpool, against the directors of the Chatham Football Company for wages amounting to £20, the Judge (Sir Wm. Selfe) overruled the directors’ contention that, according to the football laws, the dispute could only be adjudicated upon by the English Football Association.
