An influential town’s meeting was held at Liverpool Town Hall, on Monday, in support of a scheme for a University for Liverpool. On the motion of Lord Derby, seconded by the Bishop of Liverpool, and supported by Principal Dale, Mr. E.K. Muspratt, and Sir William Mitchell Banks, a resolution in favour of a separate university committee was appointed to consider the scheme.
The Lord Mayor of Liverpool announced that £80,000 had already been promised towards the university.
