Practice matches in aid of the hospitals

August 18, 1905
The football season being about to commence, the followers of the game and the general public are scanning with interest any information respecting the preparations which are being made by the leading clubs. The approaching practice matches will no doubt be attended by the usual large numbers who are anxious to judge of the merits of the new players and the form of the old. By permission of the Football Association and the kindness of the directors of the Liverpool Football Club, the whole proceeds of the practice matches will be given to the Liverpool Hospital Saturday Fund. The first of the matches will take place to-morrow, kick-off four o’clock. Last year the proceedings of the two Liverpool club games amounted to £115 5s 2d, which was a large increase upon the previous year, and hopes are entertained that the result of the matches to-morrow, and Wednesday next will be even more successful.
