Raybould given an extra week of rest

Saturday, November 18 – 1905
Of more than usual interest is the engagement at Anfield where the Proud Prestonians appear in all their glory, with many of their own supporters to cheer them on, and with a sound record for the present season.

The Anfield men first met Preston in 1894-5, when North End won by 5-2, and drew in the return with 2 goals. The next meetings were in 1896-7, and honours were even in both games. Similarly in 1897-8 drawn games were recorded, and Liverpool improved on subsequent acquaintances, winning by 3-1 and 2-1, 1-0 and 3-1, 2-2, and 3-2. Then the famous old club wandered in second division ruts till last season, and now they have recorded some capital victories over worthy opponents.

Their team will be at full strength, and Liverpool will rely on the same side as last week, Sam Raybould being now quite well and being given a further week’s rest. Jack Parkinson hopes to have his wrist unslinged in a week.

Liverpool have a plethora of half backs. Against Preston they have to include George Fleming at outside left and Tom Chorlton at inside right.
** Last chapter is about Liverpool Reserves.
