The fight for Charles Hewitt

May 16, 1906
Liverpool expect to secure the transfer of Charles Hewitt, the Middlesbrough forward. Apparently he did not agree with the directorate of Middlesbrough, and he forsook the club which offered him the full wage all the year round for Tottenham Hotspur.

The Teesiders objected. Now it is stated that Hewitt cancelled his engagement with the ‘Spurs to join Liverpool. He has not yet put his signature to a form for the League champions, but is expected to within a short time.
