Passing to a brighter aspect of affairs, I note with pleasure the reappearance of Alf West on the playing field. On September 15 he injured himself in the League match against Sunderland, and until Saturday last had not played in a game of any sort since that unfortunate day. He turned out against the Preston North End reserves at Anfield, and came through the ordeal satisfactorily. In the League fixture at Deepdale,
Maurice Parry was included in the premier team for the first time since November 17 when he sustained a severe strain. The effect of West’s absence can scarcely be over-estimated in reckoning up the Anfielders possibilities of the present campaign.
