The meeting of these clubs at Anfield furnished an interesting and well fought game, Liverpool capturing the points by reason of a one-nil victory. This came just on the interval, Charles Hewitt beating Coffin following a corner. Liverpool had the better of this half, and Fred Smith once hit the bar with a terrific shot, while Coffin made some capital saves.
After the interval Earlestown pressed, and Jim Harrop cleared when the visitors were almost through. Earlestown showed smart footwork, but Ned Doig and Billy Dunlop were not to be beaten.
