A professional footballers sprint championship was among the features of the sports at Liverpool Theatrical Gala yesterday, and resulted as follows: –
(1) William Todd, Earlestown FC; (2) Arthur Robins, Castleford Town FC; (3) E. Whiteside, Bolton Wanderers; (4) Arthur Goddard, Liverpool FC. Won easily. Time 10 2-5 seconds.
100 yards Handicap (Everton and Liverpool footballers): –
(1) James Speakman, Liverpool, 4 yards; (2) Arthur Goddard, Liverpool, 3 yards; (3) Harry Buck, Everton, scratch. Won by inches; Time, 11 1-5 sec.
100 yards (for Liverpool players only): –
(1) James Speakman, 5 yards; (2) Ephraim Longworth, 4½ yards; (3) Jack Parkinson, scratch. Won by a foot. Time, 11 sec.
