The ground opening postponed.
Millwall have been engaged in further strengthening their team, and have signed on a centre-forward named Martin, a local player who commenced his career with the “Dockers,” and J. Harrower, a half-back from Southend United, A Bryce, a full back, and C. Elliott, a forward, have joined from the Dartford Club, while great things are expected from H. Friend, a soldier back who last year represented the Army against the Navy.
The new ground, which, by the way, is to be known as the “Den,” will not be ready for the opening match with New Brompton. The facts is the stands, etc., are not up yet, and the first match will be played at North Greenwich, and the opening of the Den is postponed until September 24, when West Ham cross the river to see their old neighbours and rivals.
The players signed on are as follows: –
