The Liverpool club have sent a communication to their shareholders, inviting them to meet the directors at a gathering to be held on Friday, the 20th inst. It is probable that the shareholders will be advised of certain financial matters, including the payment of the dividend which was passed at the last general meeting.
This season the Anfielders have been better supported than in any previous campaign since the club started, and their financial difficulties which have handicapped them in the past have now been surmounted.
The present position of affairs is a splendid tribute to the management, for whilst they have been compelled to practice economy, they have succeeded in getting together some excellent players as a very moderate outlay, as prices go nowadays,
Their tide of good fortune is now flowing, and the idea of having a convivial evening with the shareholders – for a smoking concert will follow the declaration of the business matters – is a commendable one.
It is to be hoped that Mr. John McKenna, who has worked so hard for the club ever since it started, will be able to be present. Otherwise the function will be shorn of one of its most interesting features.
