The League most go on

September 4, 1915
Last season the Football League programme was fulfilled and the Football Association played their cup competition, but vetoed the international matches.

This season football will be of a new type and with a different object. The ruling bodies have not hesitated to abolish the temptation to prevent a man doing his duty to his country, and if he plays it will be without any hope of emolument.

Furthermore, the huge losses entailed by most clubs last season rendered it necessary for the conditions to be recast. Some clubs evidently do not approve of this modified form of football, and thus we find Blackburn Rovers, Aston Villa, the three north-east representatives, and Wolverhampton Wanderers are not joining in this season’s play.
