Liverpudlians see the light again

Monday, December 2 – 1918
By the revival of lights in the gas lamps which had remained for four years darkened, several amusing mistakes are reported. Four example, a gentleman on his way home from addressing a Band of Hope meeting was so misled by the first re-illumination of a lamp near his own door that he walked past it and on to the next terrace. A lady using her own latchkey found her nearest neighbour lighting the hall lamp! Mutual surprise was succeeded bu happy explanation of the pardonable mistake of one front door for another.
