Liverpool have signed two of the best local lads: Frank Barlow, left half of Southport Y.M.C.A., a sturdy, hard-as-nails lad. He possesses an Army Cup final medal, won over there.
The other player signed is Jim Taylor, centre-forward or inside-right. Formerly prior to 4 ½ years in Army in France with Southport All Saints, for whom he scored many. A really clever lad when he joined up. Must have kept it up, as when he landed home, Preston North End waited on him with papers needing his signature. Someone had spotted him.
