Ephraim Longworth, for eight years captain of the Liverpool F.C., leaders of the First Division of the League, has refused to continue the captaincy of the side, despite the entreaties of the players and directors. Longworth has no grievance with the players, his complaint being that, though he has not let down the club, even when playing out of his usual position, he has been omitted from the first team on several occasions.
