Ephraim Longworth as stand-in skipper for Donald Mackinlay

Saturday, February 11 – 1922
With Donald Mackinlay playing for Scotland last week, Liverpool had to bring in Ephraim Longworth, who recently resigned the captaincy of the club, owing to his being left out of the side. When that event took place Mackinlay took over the captaincy.

Last week Longworth not only played, but he skippered his side to a splendid victory at Birmingham.
