South Molton Association Football Club’s first choice for the position of player-manager of the team on Thursday fell on Stanley Rowlands, a former Welsh international, and who has played for Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Reading, and Tranmere Rovers.
Last year he assisted Oswestry, winners of the Northern Division of the Welsh National League, figuring in 44 out of 45 matches played as centre forward, and scoring 43 goals. He is 34 years of age.
A telegram offering Rowlands the engagement was despatched on Friday, and a reply of acceptance was received in the afternoon.
