William George, the former Aston Villa and England goalkeeper, has died in Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham, aged 59. He joined the Villa in 1896, and had a long record of first-team appearances, being in the Cup-winning side of 1905. George kept goal for England against Germany in 1901, and the following year played against Scotland, Ireland, and Wales.
