Last minute selection for Kay

Friday, February  11 – 1938
Mr. George Kay, the Liverpool manager, intends to wait until the last possible moment before selecting the side in order to be certain about the fitness of the injured players, who however, are all showing encouraging improvements.
The back and half back divisions are causing most concern, and changes in the attack are unlikely. Jack Balmer, the inside right, played so well against Leeds United that he is certain of inclusion.
The players were at Hoylake yesterday taking the sea air following training at Anfield. To-day they are to have electrical treatment and massage at the ground, and a visit to a theatre in the evening will wind up the training. (Yorkshire Post, 11-02-1938)
