Mr. S.F. Rous, secretary of the English Football Association, said last night: “Friendly matches at which it is not anticipated that a large crowd will congregate, may be played in areas not specified in the official list provided sanction is first obtained from local police headquarters.
“At such short notice it is impossible to give any idea as to the number of matches that can be arranged. The primary purpose of the fixtures will be to provide some recreational entertainment for the young people. We have no further information regarding future plans for football.”
To-day’s games will be of a scratch nature. Nothing has yet been arranged for future football fixtures.
