The spectators, who numbered just under 6,000, witnessed a highly entertaining game in which Liverpool proved too good for Bolton, particularly in their ability to round off their attacks. They had the best forwards on view in Jack Balmer and Herman Van Den Berg, who comprised a brilliant wing.
Willie Fagan, too, played well in Liverpool’s attack, and he provided Balmer with the opportunities from which the inside left netted twice. Matt Busby, the Liverpool captain, scored the third goal. His success set the seal on a brilliance display.
