The British Army football team to meet the French Army in Paris on February 11 includes 10 Internationals and an English Test cricketer. The team is: –
Arthur Riley (Liverpool); Bert Sproston (Manchester City), Andy Beattie (Preston North End); Harry Goslin (Bolton Wanderers), Stan Cullins (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Joe Mercer (Everton); Albert Geldard (Bolton Wanderers), Maurice Edelston (Reading), Tommy Lawton (Everton), Don Welsh (Charlton Athletic), Denis Compton (Arsenal).
Sproston Goslin, Cullins, Mercer, Geldard, Lawton, and Welsh have played for England and Beattie has been capped for Scotland. Riley has played for South Africa, while Edelston is an English amateur International.
