Weird, reads as Chrest. A long shot – Ernest.
I think it’s Chrest, also. – Mercedes
What year is the entry from?
Hi Ed,
It is from the 1897/98 season.

Hi Kjell
I’ve just had a quick look at all the births for the surname Ledge that were registered with the UK’s General Register Office between 1837 and 1890 and there’s nothing that looks remotely like the first name in the image. (I used freebmd.org) If you’ve got access to the UK censuses (for example, with ancestry.com), you could try searching the 1891 and 1901 UK censuses for all entries for Ledge. Beyond that, I don’t know what to suggest.

Ed
Hi Ed,
A big thank you for checking the archives. I do not have access to them myself. It is a strange one. I posted the same “Help” article on “http://www.scottishleague.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3947” and one suggestion there was that it could be a surname, so a double surname.
But, it remains a mystery, and with football history there is a lot of mysteries. That is the fuel we need to keep going.
