Hello,
I will be in Liverpool from Wednesday, November 6, and a few days onwards in connection with the book launch party of the Liverpool Encyclopaedia written by my good Icelandic friends Arnie and Gudmundur over at lfchistory.net.
The launch party is on Thursday evening, so I am hoping to spend quite some time at the Central Library in Liverpool searching for special items in the club’s history before the party, and during the weekend.
If you have any request you want me to check up or look into I am happy to do so.
First come, first served.
If you come across any articles relating to how the Liverpool schoolboys side began and fared in the early days, that would be great.
Hi Mick,
I must admit I am pretty blank on that issue. Do you have any time line guide to give me?
I came across this that shows 1931 as the year it started being organised.

Lpool schools began some time in 1886
Lpool Mercury 1899 02/05. 09/04/1986 Anfield. 22/05/1905 Lpool v Birkenhead boys. Bradford v Lpool Boys 12/11/1910 – resturn game at Garston 28/01/1911.
These are some dates I have. Presumably others in between.
Particularly enjoyed the Colne and Trawden links. At that time the North East Lancs league operated. I have one of heir old trophies presented to Lancs schools in 1930s
Will shortly be checking out local papers in the NE Lancs area – if I spot any re LFC I will post you. Mick
Not sure how current that website is but I do know that the LSFA reception room at Walton Sports Centre was closed early this year because the facility operation was transferred from the City Council to a ‘charity’ as paret of a cost cutting exercise. I’ve asked Steve Rotheram MP to look into it.
Have a great day Kjell, wish I could be there. I ordered the limited edition version of the book. Can’t wait to get it

Hiya Kjell, Love reading your research, especially the off beat stuff like the recent Stanley park opening article.
I am interested in knowing of John Houlding’s political career, especially his work as a West Derby Poor Law Union guardian. I think one of the early LFC officials (John McKenna?) was also a Vaccination Officer for WDPLU.
any help you can give is appreciated.
Enjoy your book party & the match if you’re staying for it.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for your email. Oh, I am have been wanting to dig into the history of John Houlding for a long time. Knowing that readers of the blog would be interested in that I will focus more on the topic. The first encounter I have found with Mr. Houlding is in the Liverpool Mercury for the 21st November, 1862. The topic was the representative election for the Lime Street Ward, and John Houlding (publican/London Road) gave his support to a Mr. Cooper, who lost the vote to a Mr. Jeffery. I will continue and search and see if I can bring more light into Houlding before he turned to football.
Kjell
Hi Peter,
You can follow the articles I add, and have added, regarding Houlding here: http://kjellhanssen.com/1980/01/01/john-houlding/
Kjell
Hi Peter,
I have added some articles about Houlding the last few days. If you have a look at (http://kjellhanssen.com/1980/01/02/football-and-city-life-in-liverpool-pre-1892/) and specially the articles for 1879 (minus The Zulus and Thomas Edison) I think we are about to hear the beat of his political career.
