Bury v Liverpool.
Bury played an exhibition game, before about 3,000 spectators. The homesters started against a powerful wind, and for a time play ruled even, each end being visited in turn. Bury made gallant attacks, obtaining several corners, but they had hard lines, Ross making a lucky save. Give-and-take play followed, half-time arrived without any score having been made.
Crossing over Bury had most of the play for some time, but were unable to pierce the defence. Some fine short passing was shown by Liverpool, contrasting favourably with the homesters’ longer methods. Plant was hurt and retired for a time.
The visitors’ had a look in, after which Bury again began to press, and had hard lines. Liverpool rushed down and got a corner. Bury then got three corners and hands in the goal mouth, but the defence was splendid.
The result was a draw, nothing being scored.
