To-morrow will be played off the ties in the supplementary, or “extraordinary,” round in the English Cup Competition, which the Football Association created this season in order to get Liverpool, Stoke, and Portsmouth out of the difficulties which their omission to comply with the conditions governing entry to the competition had landed them in.
Under the old regime these clubs would have been compelled, as had Glossop and one or two others last year, to go through the qualifying stages, which would have involved a general interference with their ordinary fixtures and given rise to difficulties affecting other clubs.
To avoid this, the members of the Council decided to institute another round, in which the winners of the ten divisions should meet ten selected clubs, which include the delinquents and it is this round which is to be worked off prior to the draw for the first round proper, which takes place at Chancery Lane on Monday afternoon.
