Albert “Kelly” Houlker to Blackburn Rovers

 May 18, 1906
The signing of Albert “Kelly” Houlker, the Southampton international half-back, by Blackburn Rovers, notwithstanding the offer of the maximum wage by the Southampton club, has led to inquiry by the Football Association under the new rule. Houlker, who left the Rovers four years ago because of a dispute over 5s. per week, is already working at a trade he was following before he went south, and has strong domestic and business reasons for returning to his native town.
