In my notes yesterday I mentioned in a quiet way that I might have some interesting information for the supporters of the Liverpool Club, and it has not taken long to confirm my forecast; for this morning the news is to hand of a very clever forward being signed on by Mr. Tom Watson on behalf of the Livers.
The genial secretary paid a visit to Glasgow yesterday and accomplished a smart piece of business in obtaining the signature of William Millar, of the Greenock Morton Club.
Miller is very well-known in Scottish football circles, and it is pleasing to note that he is another player who does not confine himself to the one position.
He plays inside left or right, and I believe is just the type of player required in Liverpool’s front rank.
Miller made his name with East Stirlingshire club, where his prowess with the big ball attracted the attention of Glasgow Rangers, with whom, by the way, our one-time favourite, Sailor Hunter, is now associated. He played with the Rangers for a while, and subsequently fell in with Greenock Morton.
The Celtic Club have a big idea about the Reds’ latest capture, and were also very anxious to obtain his signature.
Millar is only a young man, being 22 years of age. He Stands 5ft. 7 1/2ins. in height, and weighs 11st. 2lbs.
He will probably take his new quarters next week, when he may have a canter with the reserves.
