Key note: “On Saturday the return fixture with Heywood Central was concluded, and although Liverpool only won by the narrow margin of 2 goals to 1, yet they were decidedly the better team. On account of a strong wind blowing from goal to goal, the play was mostly confined to one position of the field, and so stubborn was the defence offered by Sydney Ross (who throughout played brilliantly), Hannah, and McLean, that the homesters could only manage to put one through.”
